The figures produced by this tool are estimates only.Sales tax rates change frequently — often quarterly or annually — and combined rates vary by exact street address, product category, exemption certificate, and the date of the transaction. Average local rates shown on this site are statistical approximations and may differ from the exact rate levied by a specific county, city, transit authority, or special district.

5. API Fair Use (/rates.json)

We publish our compiled rate tables as an open dataset at/rates.json, served with permissive cross-origin access. The data is free for both commercial and personal use. We ask only that you provide attribution with a link back tousasalestaxcalculator.com wherever the data or derived rates are published.

• Attribution: when you republish rates, figures, or a derivative dataset, include a visible hyperlink to this website.
• Rate limits: automated polling must stay at or below one request every 60 seconds per client. Cache responses — the dataset changes monthly at most, so aggressive polling wastes resources and may be throttled.
• No bulk mirroring: do not continuously crawl, mirror, or redistribute the full dataset as a competing real-time service without written permission.
• No abuse: do not use the API to launch denial-of-service traffic, stress tests, or scraping loops against this website.
• Changes: we may rate-limit, block, or discontinue API access at any time, with or without notice.

6. Acceptable Use
